Dog Days...

...of summer are upon us!

In fact, we have tied the record for
the 2nd most consecutive days of
triple-digit heat
in Dallas/Fort Worth history!

And, by the look of this week's forecast,
we aren't in for a break any time soon!!

If you don't hear from me in the next few days,
look for me out on the driveway ...
sitting on top of a pile of ice!!

Stay cool!

(Thanks to my dear friend, Lisa, for sending me this darling picture! ♥ It couldn't be more perfect!!)

I had a make-over!

I didn't, personally, have a make-over
(although, goodness knows I could use one!!) ...
I treated my blog to one!
It all started when I won a gift certificate at Paper Cowgirl for a mini blog make-over ...
then my website vanished into thin air ...
and, as they say, the rest is history!
I love the new look!! Thank you, Karen Valentine of Valentine Design!!
You can find my dolls here (or click on heart under "My Shop" on left -->)
And you'll find my patterns here:

Oh, Dear!

My website has disappeared and, wouldn't you know it
... these silly witches are taking full advantage of it!!

They're busy shopping on eBay for ingredients to concoct a spell!
You know what they say, "When the cat's away ... the witches will play!!"

Best witches,

A Wicked Witch...

...cast a spell on my website!

Don't worry, it wasn't sweet Esmerelda
She wouldn't hurt a fly!
(And besides, she has professional integrity!!)

As you might have noticed, my website is gone!
Just like that ... without a speck of warning!!

Until I can sort things out,
please visit my selling blog to meet my newest creations.

And, in the meantime, I'll just pick myself up...
dust myself off...
and start all over again!

It's the weekend...

...time to party!

Witch Zelma is attending a Halloween
soirée on eBay!

As for me, one of my favorite weekend pastimes is going to estate sales.
I'm always in search of old ... vintage ... antique-y goodies!
I never know what little trinket or bauble will inspire my creativity ...
it could be something as simple as a button!

I adore buttons!!
I found these at an estate sale last night.

Vintage buttons are my weakness!

I can sit for hours sifting and sorting through a pile of old buttons

They have a history ... they have a story.
Decorative or functional, they were once attached to a garment ... they had a purpose.
And someone, long ago, removed them from a garment with the thought that they would be re-purposed.

That's my job ... re-purposing these pretties!
That is, if I can bear to part with them...
(I wonder if there is a button-holics anonymous?)

Enjoy your weekend!!

Have a Happy 4th of July!

Hope your 4th of July festivities include a cook-out or picnic with family and friends!
This is one of my favorite summertime dessert recipes! Yummy!!

Candy Bar Ice Cream Pie
8 servings

1 NutRageous candy bar
1 Butterfinger candy bar
1 ReeseSticks candy bar
1 quart Dulce de Leche ice cream, slightly softened (I use Häagen-Dazs.)
6oz. ready-to-fill chocolate-flavored crumb pie crust

Thawed frozen non-dairy whipped topping

1. Thinly slice candy bars. Freeze half of each in a freezer container and reserve for garnish.
2. Spread half of the ice cream in pie crust. Sprinkle with remaining sliced candy bars. Spoon on remaining ice cream...swirling surface decoratively. Cover with reserved plastic (pie crust) lid and freeze at least 8 hours.
3. Shortly before serving, garnish pie with whipped topping and reserved frozen candy bars.

*Note: If you can't find the candy bars listed above, feel free to substitute your favorites!
