Castroville, Texas

I just returned home from a brief trip to San Antonio with my mom. While looking for a place to eat one evening, we happened upon a quaint little historic town called Castroville. The town was founded by a group of colonists from Alsace, France, in 1844. Many of the town’s original buildings and charming homes  - built in the 1800’s  - are still intact and identified on a walking tour.

This home stopped me in my tracks! Not because of its age (it was built in 1911), but because it was ordered from the Sears, Roebuck and Co. catalog for $5000!!

The house was shipped by rail … and then hauled to Castroville by horse and wagon where it was assembled by a couple of local carpenters. And to top it off, the original owner's son still resides in the home!

I hope to return to Castroville someday and spend more time exploring this town with its rich Alsatian history. Add that to my bucket list....

Main St. Fort Worth Arts Festival

My hubby, daughter, and I attended the
MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival
this weekend.

This juried art event is, without a doubt,
one of the BEST in the country!

So much eye candy...
including these colorful
hand blown glass balls!!

Wouldn't it be fun to have one of these
fanciful scuptures in your backyard?

This gal was selling mojitos from her beverage stand...
which just happened to be a cool vintage car!

This booth contained some of my favorite folk art!

The artist created the most clever little creatures
from repurposed recycled materials.

I wanted to take each one of them home with me!

This school of fish was created from old cans.

And my VERY favorite artist created
the most incredible bird sculptures
embellished with repurposed and vintage items!

Hope you did something fun this weekend, too!
Have a terrific week ...

Yankee Doodle ... and Dandy!

It seems as if I've been working on spring creations
I suppose that is due to Easter being so late this year.

I'm in the mood to create something
different  (it's an artist's prerogative, right?!).
The bunnies have been fun, but I'm
looking forward to the next few seasons...
the ideas are swirling around in my head!
Stay tuned...

Raggedy hugs,

Some people...

...make the world special
simply by being in it!

That's my friend, Lisa!
Look what she recently sent me...

a box of vintage textile spools!

I met Lisa several years ago when we both lived in California.
She is the sweetest person you'd ever want to meet ...
and I'm so lucky our paths crossed!

Thank you, Lisa...for being you!
