My daughter is coming over for dinner tonight and I will set her place at the table with a RED PLATE.
We incorporated the tradition of the RED PLATE when my children were very young. To mark special occasions or achievements, my son or daughter would find the RED PLATE at his or her place at the table. We honored birthdays, sports wins, good report cards, school awards, lost baby teeth, etc., with the “You Are Special Today”RED PLATE. Even my husband or I, on occasion, was lucky enough to be the recipient of the RED PLATE treatment! Everyone in the family knew that the RED PLATE was cause for celebration … and if it happened to be put out in your honor, it just made your day a little more special!
And if you’re wondering why my daughter is being served dinner on the RED PLATE this evening … it is because she was honored as “Teacher of the Month”!
I am so proud of her!! Kudos, Whitney … and Job Well Done! ♥ And just between you and me, I think teachers should eat off of RED PLATESevery day!
