Just finished concocting a set of Halloween spell bottles.

B-O-O Banner Tutorial

A fun mini banner to display at Halloween!
Of course, you may tweak the banner ... and use any word or combination of words that your ♥ desires
(i.e., substitute scrapbook paper for the sheet music to create a Happy Birthday Banner)!
What you'll need:
Vintage sheet music or pages from an old music book
Black grosgrain ribbon
Black glitter
Metal eyelets (6) and an eyelet fastener tool
Hole punch
White glue
Rubber cement
 Step 1
Tear out 3 pages of sheet music from a vintage songbook. Cut each page to measure 5” x 8”.

Open the word processing program of your choice.
Select your favorite font (I used Bodoni MT Black - size 130).
Type a B on your document making sure it is centered in the middle of the upper portion of the page.
Test print using a sheet of plain white paper first to make sure the letter prints correctly!
Insert one page of sheet music in the paper feed of your printer.
Print the B on one page of sheet music.
Repeat the process 2 more times, printing O on the remaining sheets of music.
 Step 2
Draw a 2¾” (width) x 3¾ (height) triangle on a scrap of paper.
Cut out the paper and use it as a template to cut out triangles from each printed sheet of music.
 Step 3
Using rubber cement, glue the triangles to a piece of cardboard.
Cut out triangles. Glue sheet music or scrapbook paper to the back of each triangle, too.
 Step 4
Using a hole punch, punch 2 holes at the top corners of each triangle.
Add metal eyelets to each hole.
Step 5
Glitter the edges of each triangle with black glitter. Allow glue to dry.
Step 6
Thread a 24-inch piece of black ribbon through the metal eyelets.
Hang and enjoy your B-O-O banner!!

Bowl of Yummy

Well...it's still HOT here in my little corner of the country!
We hit a record 107 degrees yesterday!!
So I decided to take advantage of the heat ... and bake a batch of gingerbread guys.
Aren't they yummy?!

And speaking of yummy ... I found the antique yellow ware bowl while junkin' with my hubby this weekend!
What a treasure!! I have a thing for old bowls ... and this one definitely made my go pitter-patter!

When it's hot, hot, hot...!

swelter (ˈswɛltə)
— vb  to suffer under oppressive heat, esp to sweat and feel faint
— n  oppressive humid heat

Today is our 18th straight day of  triple-digit temperatures...with no end in sight! Whew! What's a Texas gal to do but turn down the A/C a couple of notches ... replenish the ice in her glass ... and turn her attention to the bat wings, pumpkin parts, and witch heads scattered about her studio! Only 36 days until Autumn.
But who's counting...?!

Go, Dukes!

I was in Virginia last week. I accompanied my mother on a business trip of sorts, but we did manage to escape for a few hours and drove to my alma mater, James Madison University! I haven't been back to the campus in over 20 years ... and yet, despite the growth and changes, JMU still felt the same! Being in Harrisonburg brought so many fond college memories! Go, Dukes!!

Make Sweet Memories

I baked chocolate chip cookies last night. And that can only mean one thing ... my son, who is away at college, is home this weekend! I wouldn't bake from-scratch cookies for just anyone, you know, especially when the temperature outside is in the triple-digits! But a mom's got to do what a mom's got to do!!

I discovered the most fun little sentiment on the Nestle Tollhouse Morsels package:
♥ Tear Here to Make Sweet Memories
Love that!

Wishing you sweet memories!
